Dave Thomas' Outlook

Wendy’s Founder, Dave Thomas, has some outlooks that have helped guide his life.

Here they are:

  1. Anything is possible within the laws of God and man.
  2. You can’t cut corners on quality.
  3. Give back – early and often.
  4. When you help someone, you really help yourself.
  5. You can’t make much progress walking forward if you don’t keep balance in everything you do.
  6. Have a sense of urgency about most things you do, and you won’t end up as the caboose.
  7. Focus on only one thing at a time, and on just a few things in a lifetime.
  8. Don’t waste time trying to do things you know nothing about; either learn the basics or steer clear.
  9. Remember that life is short and fragile. Live it like you don’t know if you’re going to be around for the next breath.
  10. Don’t take people – or our freedoms – for granted.
  11. Be yourself, and don’t take yourself too seriously.
  12. Do the right thing – even when it’s harder than doing the easy thing.
  13. Put more into life than you get out of it.

Thirteen rules that have guided Dave Thomas and Wendy’s to the first tier in the fast-food industry. Enough said: Do What’s Right!
