Words Can be Misunderstood It was once said, “To understand others you should get behind their eyes and walk down their spines.”  Misunderstandings often separate friendships, marriages, business agreements and other various plans from their original intent.  Our words if not spoken or written in clarity can result in unnecessary pain and related discomfort for those who are impacted.

  
  There is a comical and well-known illustration of a British lady looking for a room to live while visiting Switzerland.  Unsure of where to turn, she decided to go to the village school and speak with the principal. Normally this individual knows others who may have rooms for rent.  After being directed to several rooming possibilities and finding a suitable room, she returned to England for her luggage.  Once there, she remembered that she hadn’t asked about a bathroom or “water closet” as it was called in England.  Since she had a delay, until she returned to Switzerland, she felt compelled to write the principal with her question and referred to the facilities in her letter as a “WC.”
