Business Moment:

The workforce of today can learn a valuable lesson from the experience of William Hogarth, a renowned painter and engraver. He was hired to paint a representation of a work, Destruction of Pharaoh’s Host in the Red Sea. The very money conscious individual who hired him wanted the painting for his elaborate staircase completed for an extremely reduced price.
Mr. Hogarth plastered the entire canvas with red paint and said the project was finished. When the amazed purchaser inquired where the Israelites were, he was told by Hogarth that they had already crossed the river.
The purchaser then asked, “Then, where are the Egyptians?” Hogarth calmly replied that they had all drowned. Thus the money conscious purchaser received his work at the reduced price but its final presentation was not what he intended to see.
The moral of the story proclaims that anyone who decides to be stingy with their output may very well find a minimal return on their investment. The real benefit comes when you apply 100% of time, effort, and energy to any task. Don’t let your masterpiece be incomplete. Give it your proper investment and enjoy its intended return.

|
|
Last month I began a discussion of the characteristics of anabolic and catabolic leaders, and how the anabolic leader “leads,” while the catabolic leader “manages.” Another distinction between catabolic and anabolic leaders is that catabolic leaders “delegate,” while anabolic leaders “participate.”
|
According to Webster’s dictionary, “delegate” means to entrust to the care or management of another; to transfer; to assign; to commit, and “participate” means to partake of; to share in; to receive a part of.
Most of us have been taught that delegating is something that we need to do in order to be effective leaders and to get things done. And in fact, that is true – but anabolic leaders take it a step further.... Click Here to Read More
