Friday’s Think BIG! Success Summary

A New Year has arrived and I am sure the good intention energy level is at a peak.  Virtually everyone is now ready to engage in determined actions to make a notable positive difference for themselves as they enter another year of high expectations.  To help you keep that enthusiasm at a peak, here are 3 simple actions to consider and hopefully help you make this year your best ever.

First, insure that you do have viable goals for the year. A viable goal is one that impacts some area of your life, is measurable, time sensitive and is written down.  Goals not written down, not measurable nor time sensitive are only opportunities that go unfulfilled.  Remember, as was once said, “Winners make goals; losers make excuses.”

Second, take those goals and build you a winning plan.  A winning plan addresses the following crucial areas:  1) What are you hoping to build or develop?  2) Why is that important or why do this at all?  3) What will you measure to determine if you win or fall short?  4)  How will these efforts help you over time; how do we grow?  5) What specific work actions must be employed during the New Year to reach those goals or target levels?  Having that winning plan available to guide you will enable you to keep focused on your viable goals.  As the theme declares:  “People don’t plan to fail, they fail to plan.”

Third, get yourself a commitment partner.  A commitment partner is one that you confide your goals and plans to and who helps you stay on track.  They push you when you are not staying on course during the year; encourage you when success is evident; and, they also help you address the tough questions as to what can be done to help you better achieve your goals and or execute your plan.  Whether a professional business coach or someone who has the skill and insight to not coddle you but motivate you to reach your maximum levels of achievement, make the decision to secure this person and get active in the relationship,  As Socrates said, “I can’t teach you anything.  I can only make you think.”  A great commitment partner will provide the support you need to think and reach those goals!

Put these 3 simple actions to work and make the New Year, your year of not good achievement, but GREAT achievement.  As former champion coach and NFL Hall of Fame Vince Lombardi once said, “It is time for us all to stand and cheer for the doer, the achiever—the one who recognizes the challenges and does something about it.”

Now, go make it happen!
