7 Habits for Success (Habit #1)

Habits have a way of impacting our lives. That impact can be either bad or good depending upon the circumstance and the individual or individuals involved. From a bad perspective, we get into a routine of doing things that prevent us from being our best. Looking from a good perspective, we get into a routine of doing things that bring out the very best we have to offer. The decision we must make is simple: “Which habit do we desire to embody, good or bad?”

In business, success often comes as a result of adopting good habits. Doing the things that unsuccessful people will not do most often leads to that success.  Though the road may wind you through many highs and lows, the decisions made will ultimately lead you to goal attainment or keep you as a wandering generality.

Studies have shown that applying a process or habit for a period of twenty-eight (28) consecutive days will enable that habit to become a normal part of your life.  In essence, you mentally adopt the behavior or behaviors and your life or routine is changed.

Ovid said, “Habits change into character.”  In today’s demanding business environment, it is imperative that the proper habits be encased in our personal storehouse. When this happens, we verify Parks Cousins thoughts, ”Make good habits, and they will make you.”  So, what are some good habits? Habits, should you make them part of your routine, will better direct your journey toward successful achievement.

This is the first of seven good habits that can better guide your efforts. Each week, another habit will be discussed. Remember, twenty-eight (28) days of consistent effort is required.

Habit #1: Enter each day and week with a list of critical actions/goals that must be accomplished.
This
organized approach will allow you to maintain a focus on the activities that should bring the most positive results. When you exercise this approach, you also lay the foundation for financial gain which will come as a result of your ongoing action plan demanding only your effort to jump start the process.

Next week, we will investigate the second good Habit.
