7 Habits for Success (Habit #2)

Habits have a way of impacting our lives. That impact can be either bad or good depending upon the circumstance and the individual or individuals involved. From a bad perspective, we get into a routine of doing things that prevent us from being our best. Looking from a good perspective, we get into a routine of doing things that bring out the very best we have to offer. The decision we must make is simple: “Which habit do we desire to embody, good or bad?”

This is the second HABIT that can have a positive impact on your business.

#2: Keep your team informed as to your business goals, needs and performance expectations and how each individual’s role is vital to the overall business success. This action will demand delegation not abdication of various duties critical to achievement.

For people to follow, they must understand the “why”. Once the “why” is understood, it is vital to explain the “how”. The “how” will cascade the roadway that leads to “accountability.” “Accountability” comes from people understanding what their individual role demands and specifically how their role leads to success. This process is the foundation for the building of an effective “team.” Once you have an effective “team” in place and committed to success, your ability for achievement is solidified.

Next week, we will investigate the third good Habit.
